So much stuff. Here's a wrap up of what's been going on lately:
The Backwoods Betties played their first ever bout in Dallas, TX last weekend. For us being a brand new team, I was really happy with the outcome. We lost by some major points, but we gave it our all, and tried to implement much of what we have been practicing for weeks.
I got a mention in a review of the game by Phil Arnold of Austin, TX on www.derbynewsnetwork.com:
"Top scorers for The Backwood Betties included Blonde Ice with 12
points, Magnum G.I. with 9 points and Blazen Glory with 7 points.
Top blockers included Jesster Riot, Sin, and JoAnn of Arc."Here's a photo by Ziv Kruger:

The trip itself was a blast as always. A car full of Jesster, Jay, Spark and Sin equals booze, possible speeding violations and laughing hysterically at weirdos in small town gas stations.
During the bout I fell weird on one of my knees (the OTHER one that had been my good knee) it was stiff the following day, but I sorta paid no mind. I noticed it's tenderness leading up to last night, but was an idiot and did not see the signs. At last night's practice I fell (which is not uncommon) but fell on it and just had to lay there in pain. To date I have never not gotten right back up after a fall, but last night broke that record. It just would not stop hurting. I am pretty mad at myself, because we play Little Rock in a matter of weeks, and I have to be in top shape. I am going to see my doctor today just to speed that along.
The Killbillies did a great job in Dallas as well, but Derby Devils are just a larger, older more experienced league at this point. We'll get 'em next year! No one came away from the bout sad that we lost. DDD are really fun and they play a clean game. I am glad we went.
Looking over my schedule for the next few months is quite insane:
Sat. Feb. 16th - Party
Fri. Feb 22nd - Little Rock Bout (going to watch)
Sunday Feb 24th - Stillwater, OK- CORDA (Central Oklahoma Roller Derby Association vs. NWARG) (playing possibly)

Sun, March 9th - Tulsa vs. Killbillies (bench manager) This is the bout where they are auctioning our Breast Casts
Sat. April 18th - Big Easy Rollergirls from New Orleans, LA vs. Killbillies (bench manager) & Capital City Crushers (Topeka, KS)
vs. Betties (playing)
Sat. April 26th - Derby Dames from Pike's Peak, CO vs. Killbillies (bench manager) and Betties vs. Oklahoma Victory Dolls (playing)
So this year I think poor Travis will truly be a Derby Widow as they are known. I'll need to make that up to him :)
One of my Derby Sisters, Blackzilla, noted in her blog that her non-derby friends are becoming less and less a part of her life. I find that to be true as well. While it's not what I want, or how I have intentionally engineered it, it just becomes inevitable I guess. When you work 40 hours a week, practice derby about 5- 6 hours a week, and the spend the entire weekend on the road with derby.....it pretty much pulls you out of your non derby life by default.
I wonder what will happen to me in 5 years when I can't walk and can't play derby and have no friends.
Highlights of Dallas:
1. Dirt leg children
2. Straws being picked up off the dirty floor and being placed in drinks for dirt legs....by adults.
3. I'm just going to say...Michael Jackson.
4. Dis Missle's wardrobe.
5. Vodka
6. Quick Trip love
